Lancaster ran its Junior War of the Roses record to 5-0 with an 18-6 victory over the team from the York County Junior Golf Association. Led by co-captains Jay Filling and Bob Wolf, Lancaster opened the morning with a commanding 9-3 lead through outstanding better ball and alternate shot play. They then followed with an identical 9-3 point spread in the afternoon singles matches. The afternoon featured some dominating play by the senior players who took 7-1/2 points out of 8 in their end of the singles play. Great job, Lancaster! Your efforts all summer long were rewarded with this outstanding win. Congratulations!
This event concludes the 2008 LCJGT event schedule. It is my and the Board of Directors hope that players and spectators had a rewarding experience playing the game that you can play your whole life - GOLF. We really enjoy running these tournaments and all find it personally satisfying. Thanks a million to all of our parental volunteers who helped in so many ways this summer. Your voluntary efforts really make these events work!
Good luck to all of our high school golf participants this fall - the PIAA golf season starts on Monday, August 11.
